Jeanette Appleton is a textile artist exhibiting and lecturing in the UK and abroad. Specialising in the felting technique and transformation of materials by hand or industrial processes. Researching historical and contemporary issues of the nomad and land. Participating in international exchanges to explore cultural difference through the creative process. The principle element of the work is felt, a material with direct connection with the nomad and land. Exploring the spatial effects of colour with dyed wool and the distortion of printed or stitched marks on various fabrics. Evoking visual systems of knowledge and memory in the untouchable perspective of land areas and layers of eroded history.NOW SHOWING - SOW : SEW 'Sow : Sew' is the first major solo exhibition by Jeanette Appleton.
